Humming Bird Nectar

I just had to share my picture.  This is one of my first Hummers this year.

To make your own Humming Bird "Nectar" you will need 2 ingredients.
Sugar and Water.

1 part sugar to 4 parts water

Mix it together in a pot and boil it for 2 minutes.

Allow your nectar to cool and then add it to your feeder. There isn't a need to add red food coloring (although I usually add a drop or two just because I think it's pretty). The Hummers will come eat even with the nectar is clear.

    1. Thanks! I try to take a few minutes and just sit close to the feeder on the porch with my camera ready so that I can get the shot when the hummer comes to eat. Thanks for stopping by. :)

    1. Thank you Ashely for stopping by. I bet you will have visitors soon. It took about 3 or 4 days for us to see our first one after we set out our feeders!

  4. I had a baby humming bird in my petunias last Saturday. It was so tiny. I thought it was a bee at first.

Found you on Teach Me Tuesdays.

We're having a party at Tumbleweed Contessa and I'd love it if you could share this beautiful picture. www.tumbleweedcontessa.com/blog/

    1. Anonymous, the information below is what I got from the Oklahoma City Audubon Society.I also posted the link to this info at the bottom of my comment. I hope you have lots of Hummers!

Ruby-throated and Black-chinned Hummingbirds return to Oklahoma in early spring – usually between the 10th and 20th of April. They remain here through the summer and migrate back south during September.
We recommend that people place their hummingbird feeders out in mid April – between the 10th and 15th unless they see a hummingbird earlier than that – and maintain these feeders until late October – Halloween is an easy date to remember.

  7. Don't you just love the hummingbird?! Our first one arrived on May 1st. My daughter used to let them land on her finger when she was a teenager until life got busier for her and childhood left.

Thanks for linking up over at WholeHearted Home.
